Greenpoint facilities
Greenpoint facilities include two systems – on-site and off-site systems. The on-site systems refer to property that was a part of the former refinery footprint. These facilities consist of five dual-pump technology wells, and one water treatment facility. Off-site systems refer to property outside of the former refinery footprint. These facilities consist of 15 dual-pump technology wells and one water treatment facility. Ten of these wells were installed and began operating in dual phase in 2009, which has increased average recovery from about 1,000 gallons a day to about 4,000 gallons per day during the initial start-up phase.
Throughout the remediation history there have been more than 40 wells in operation. As wells cease their effectiveness because they have recovered the product in a specific area, they are taken out of service and potentially replaced with other wells in other locations.
