Remediation progress

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report

The EPA conducted a thorough review of documents and data relating to the Greenpoint petroleum contamination and Newtown Creek. The study notes that, “The continued use of dual-phase recovery as the primary remedial method is recommended. This has been used by most of the responsible parties through 2006 and appears to be the most efficient procedure at present, given the extent and volume of recoverable free product.”
